Resident Management System Registration

Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) registration for the 2023-2024 academic year will begin on April 19, 2023 at 12PM.

Resident registration is mandatory; failure to complete registration in a timely manner will result in a delay of the commencement of your training program. Please see below for more information about the registration process and tasks to be completed, and check out the New Residents Registration Checklist for each step new residents need to complete.

What to expect:

When registration begins, you will receive an email with a unique link to the online Resident Management System (RMS) and login instructions (note: for residents new to UBC, emails will be sent to the email address provided with your residency application). During registration, both new and returning residents will be required to update their contact information in the RMS. All UBC residents will need to activate and use a UBC-issued email address when corresponding with the PGME Dean’s Office and Programs and while using the Resident Management System.  For more information, please visit the UBC Student Email Service page.

Returning Residents

Returning residents are required to update their contact information annually in the Resident Management System (RMS) during the registration period. Please note that letters of offer are term-based, and are only issued (and signed electronically) through the Resident Management System at the start of a UBC residency training program. You will not be required to sign a letter of offer for the 2023-24 academic year if you signed your letter of offer electronically in the RMS in a previous academic year, and are not starting a new program in 2023-24.

Returning residents must also remember to login to the Student Service Centre and pay their registration fee once the fee has been posted by enrollment services.

Residents New to UBC

To help navigate the registration process, check out the New Residents Registration Guide.

All new residents are required to complete PGME Registration. The unique link provided in your registration email must be used when accessing RMS for the first time and it is specific to each resident. Once a resident has registered, they will be able to access RMS using their Campus Wide Login (CWL).

Residents new to UBC can create their CWL by clicking here using the following info for Step 2:  Validate Your Identity:

  • Affiliation Type: Student & Alumni
  • Student Number: MRES (student) number provided by UBC Enrolment Services.
  • Password: Date of Birth (“yymmdd” format)

All residents will be required to update their contact information during registration. Residents who are new to UBC, or beginning a new program will also be provided a Letter of Offer through RMS during registration.

Resident registration is mandatory and must be completed prior to a resident’s scheduled start date. Failure to complete registration in a timely manner will result in a delay of the commencement of training.
