Indigenous Counselling for All!
Using traditional Indigenous tools and perspectives, Elder Jean provides a unique approach to medicine, focusing on counselling, support and the wisdom of Elder teachings.
Main Benefits:
- Cultural Connection & Safety
- Holistic Healing
- Spiritual Support
- Empowerment of Identity
- Mental Clarity & Coping Skills
In sessions, Elder Jean often incorporates the medicine wheel, a symbol of health and healing used by generations of Indigenous communities across Turtle Island. This powerful tool aids both Indigenous and non-Indigenous residents in exploring the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional side of wellness. Elder Jean also offers group sessions known as Elder Circles. These gatherings provide a safe space for residents to share, connect, and discuss group concerns or wellness topics, fostering a sense of community and mutual support.
Eligibility
All residents are eligible to access supports with Elder Jean, though Indigenous residents will be prioritized. Elder Jean is available Mondays & Fridays from 9am-3pm at the Gordon & Leslie Diamond Health Care Centre or on Zoom.
