Choose Wonder

November 21, 2019

Brendan Leonard just wrote a piece for his blog about how and why we can make an active choice to choose wonder in our daily lives over that voice in our heads that suggests disappointment, pessimism, and being generally unimpressed.

Brendan Leonard is a writer, blogger, climber, ultrarunner, general outdoor adventurer, and recovered alcoholic. His book Sixty Metres to Anywhere shares his story of discovering and utilizing the transcending power of the outdoors to transform his life from an alcoholic spending a stint in jail to sobriety through climbing, writing, and outdoor adventures. His blog showcases essays, adventure stories, and generally humorous pieces of writing, while his Instagram displays funny and very relateable charts and drawings. He is also the director of Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival acclaimed movie How To Run 100 Miles, which while certainly is about training for a 100 mile race, is mainly about how all of us can do hard things that seem completely impossible with bravery, fierce determination, and a stubbornness to not quit.
