We are excited to announce the first PGME Scholar Day on October 16, 2025, this initiative highlights the outstanding scholarly work of our postgraduate trainees. The event will feature resident-led oral presentations in research, quality improvement, and more.

This is a great opportunity for all members of the PGME community to attend, showcase work, engage with peers, and provide valuable feedback.

Transition Into Practice

The Transition into Practice (TIP) program prepares all residents for their transition into practicing independently. We host our Transition Tuesday Evening Seminar Series regularly at 6:00 PM to support self-directed learning on topics such as financial literacy, debt management, tax planning, and more.

Understanding the Agreements and Contractual Terms Relevant for Newly Practicing Physicians
August 12, 2025 | 6:00-7:00PM PST

The session will provide a general introduction to contracts and contractual terms relevant to new physicians. The focus of this session will be on the terms of contracts using the examples of different types of locum contracts and other contractual agreements.

The LFP Payment Model 101 – How to get Started
August 19, 2025 | 6:00-7:00 PM PST

This session focuses on learning about the LFP Payment Model as a compensation option for longitudinal family physicians and locums.

Show Me The Money: The Business Behind Medical Clinics
August 26, 2025 | 6:00-7:00 PM PST

This session explores how community clinics operate. It aims to give physicians insight into behind-the-scenes operations at their future workplaces to enhance transparency and understanding.

Residents as TeachersResidents as Teachers

Elevate your ability to teach, inspire, and lead. Residents are invited to attend Residents as Teachers (RaT) workshops that prepare you to enhance your teaching moments. All residents are welcome to attend.

Patient Education
September 22 | 12:00-1:30pm PST | Facilitators: Drs. Adrian Yee and Kim Papp

In this session, participants will learn to highlight the role of patient education in care and teaching, communicate clearly, engage empathetically, and use the Teach Back method to ensure understanding and support treatment plans.

Designing presentations for learning
October 21 | 3:30-5:00pm PST | Facilitators: Dave Sanders, and Drs. Michelle Schneeweiss, and Tony Fang

Participants will learn to design interactive presentations using backward design, apply multimedia learning principles to reduce cognitive overload, and create inclusive, supportive learning environments through thoughtful language and visuals.

Teaching clinical reasoning with collaborative questioning
November 19 | 12:00- 1:30pm PST | Facilitators: Drs. Kyla Hildebrand, Tony Fang, and Shandel Riedlinger

This session will equip participants to map the diagnostic reasoning process, identify clinical reasoning types, and implement the “Collect-Generate-Prune” method.
